How do I create a warm list for my home part business?

When you are starting any type of home party business you need a warm list. Here are some suggestions on how to come up with one.

Write down everyone you know. Don’t prejudge people’s responses. It doesn’t matter that you think that Elena won’t host a party, write her name down anyway. Your warm list should have friends, family, neighbors, your hairdresser, real estate agent, child’s coaches and teachers, your bank teller, and anyone else you know on a first name basis You should have a minimum of 50 names on your list.

Next circle the 5 people on the list who you “know” won’t host a party or be interested at all. Now call them and tell them what you are doing. See if they want to host a party, would like a catalog, or know of someone who might want to host a party. Ask them to show the catalog to a few people and see if they get a response.

Then tomorrow, circle the next five that you think would turn you down and call them. Keep going until you have finished you list. This accomplishes a few things. First, you have let everyone know what you do so if they run into someone and they mention your business then they can refer them to you. Second, by the time you are through with your 50 people, you will be an expert at sharing your business so talking to strangers won’t be a problem.

Working through a warm list is the easiest and fastest way to start or rejuvenate your business.

What type of consultant are you?

There are many types of consultants involved in home party businesses and we all fit into one of these. Some of us might even fall into multiple categories.

Just for Fun Consultant
This consultant has fun doing parties, but tends to do them sporadically. She doesn’t go out of her way to work or fit them into her schedule, but loves doing it when she has one.

Multiple Company Consultant
This consultant has more than one direct sales company she is actively working, so she is generally not focused solely on one business, but spread over two or more different companies.

The Inner-Circle Consultant
Will do shows and catalog sales to her own inner circle, such as family, friends, and neighbors, but does not expand beyond her own inner circle to gain new customers and hostesses.

The Own-Best-Customer Consultant
This consultant signed up specifically to get the discount on her own purchases and to get all the goodies in the kit without paying full price.

Short-Term Goal Consultant
Needs to earn a specific amount of money and will cease her business once she reaches that monetary goal.

Part-time Consultant
Has no desire to achieve career consultant status, but is instead content to earn a pre-specified amount every month to cover household expenses or perhaps to save money for an event (holiday gift giving).

Catalog Consultant
This consultant prefers to do catalog parties only, and not go the home party route at all.

The Career Consultant
This is the consultant that is serious about her business. She works it and envisions climbing the ranks of her company. She has no problem investing in her business because she views it as a long-term career, not short-term or a hobby.

Where do you and your consultants fit in?

Spotting a new recruit at a home party

Here’s a few tips on finding a new recruit at your party.

She usually asks many more questions about the products than anyone else.

She often brings another guest with her to the show.

She tends to linger after the show admiring the products and waiting for an opportunity to speak to you.

She may offer to show another guest how a product works.

She nods her head and makes eye contact when you give your recruit spiel.

She spends a lot of time looking over the catalog, reading every last detail, as well as looking at the recruiting literature.

These are just a few tips to help you find new people in your home party business.

Home parties are all the rave

There’s an increased frustration with traditional retail shopping these days.

If you go to a store, but aren’t exactly sure what you want or how to choose, it is becoming more and more likely that you’ll have some level of difficulty finding a knowledgeable salesperson to assist you. Even if you can find someone, the likelihood that they will have in-depth knowledge about the product is extremely low.

Home parties give people personalized attention. You become kind of like a personal shopper for the customer. You begin to know what they like and when you have a new product that comes in and you know it’s just right for them then you can suggest it because of the relationship that you have built with them.

Some prefer house parties because malls are usually crowded. Some sales people at stores can be so rude and you almost have to hunt someone down for any kind of help.

Home parties are also social events. They’re a lot of fun because you’re with friends, you’re meeting new people and you’re learning new things.
Home party businesses have really taken off over the years. They have grown from kitchen items to lingerie and toys. You can have an all women’s party or couples only party. The options are endless.
